Mark is a longtime resident of Steger, and was elected to village trustee in 2002. He has operated Mark Kozy Enterprises, a carpet cleaning-janitorial service business, since 1994. Prior to running that business, he worked in several fields, including employment with the Department of Justice - United States Marshal Service in Chicago.

Mark is involved in community affairs. He is a member of the Steger Area Chamber of Commerce and currently holds the position of chairman of the Chamber Board. He also is a member of the Steger Kiwanis Club and serves as trustee on the Steger Police Department Pension Board.

Mark has been very active in bowling organizations. He is a member of the Kankakee Bowling Association. From 1991-1994, he was the organization's tournament committee chairman. He has been a certified Young American Bowling Alliance coach for 13 years. He also has volunteered for three years as an assistant coach for the Steger-South Chicago Heights girls softball program.

Mark and his family, wife Karen and daughters Kristen and Sharon, live in Steger Road.
