Tom, a longtime resident of Steger, is a Korean War Veteran and is retired from a career on the railroad, first with the CE& I-Missouri and then with Union Pacific, where he served as General Chairman of the Yardmaster’s union for 12 years.

He has served on the Steger Plan Commission and on the Village Police Pension Board. Tom was elected as the Crete Township Highway Commission from 1993 - 1997. Tom was first elected as village trustee in May 2001.

He is a member of the Steger Kiwanis Club, where he serves as its interclub chairman, American legion, Steger Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Catholic War Veterans. He is a Eucharistic minister at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Chicago Heights and attends St. Liborius Church. Tom has two daughters, a son and six grandchildren.
